Jason C. Jones is an Of Counsel Attorney to Parton & Buckingham and leads the firm’s transactional and contractual dispute litigation department. Mr. Jones puts his expertise in business formation and contractual dispute resolution, developed from over a decade of experience as a practitioner, professor of law and published scholar, to work for Parton Buckingham’s business clients. Mr. Jones is barred in Virginia and Michigan and has experience at both the large and small firm level drafting, negotiating, and ensuring compliance with commercial transactions involving up to a half a billion dollars in assets.
Prior to his time at Parton Buckingham, Mr. Jones helped commercial clients, both publicly and closely held, avoid costly litigation and ensure regulatory compliance by serving as lead counsel on real estate and asset backed transactions. He has represented both buyers and sellers in corporate mergers and acquisitions and has experience as issuer, note and bond counsel on municipal and state government debt offerings.
Mr. Jones is, quite simply, a naturally gifted litigator. He has trial experience complex investigations by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, private fund dissolution disputes, and product liability matters.
Mr. Jones’ wide range of experience on business and transactional matters allows him to forecast potential legal and financial pitfalls and take preemptory steps to help his clients forego them. His unique litigation abilities allow him to effectively and efficiently advocate for his clients involved in business disputes.
In addition to his practical experience, Mr. Jones has been a member of the faculties of the Ave Maria School of Law and Charlotte School of Law. During this time in academia, he has taught classes in Contracts, Corporate Law, Commercial Law, Negotiation, Corporate Governance and Corporate Finance.
Mr. Jones is a graduate of the Michigan State University College of Law. While in law school he served as Managing Editor of the Journal of Business and Securities Law and head brief writer for the Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Team. He is also a graduate of the Michigan State University Eli Broad College of Business.
Mr. Jones is the former Vice Chair and Interim Chair of the Board of Directors for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Food Policy Council. He has been a frequent lecturer on entrepreneurialism, food law & policy, and local economies. He is a father of three and a husband of one.
